En conferencia de prensa, el presidente Andrés Manuel López Obrador, aseguró que no tiene «nada de que avergonzar», por haber saludado a María Consuelo Loera Pérez, mamá de Joaquín «el Chapo» Guzmán en el año 2020 en una visita que realizó a Badiraguato, Sinaloa.
El mandatario señaló que la madre del ex líder del Cártel de Sinaloa le habría entregado una carta donde le solicitaba a la Embajada de Estados Unidos su ayuda, para que una de las hermanas de «El Chapo» pudiera obtener una visa para así poder visitar a su hermano.
“Y todo mundo ahí se quedó y me bajé, y la fui a ver, porque es una señora mayor, y la saludé y me dio la carta y me dijo ‘es que no permiten a mis hijas visitar a su hermano en la cárcel. Te quiero pedir a ver si usted nos ayuda para que vayan ellas, yo ya no puedo ir a verlo’, (le dije) ‘yo lo veo’ y sí lo que me decía en la carta era eso y ya la saludé y me subí de nuevo a la camioneta. Ese es el gran vinculo, el gran escándalo. Bueno, la carta fue tan en privado y en secreto todo que se la entregué a la Secretaría de Relaciones Exteriores para que la hicieran llegar al embajador de Estados Unidos y luego contestaron de la embajada que sí le iban a dar oportunidad a una de las hermanas de Guzmán Loera para que la fuera a ver, o sea, fue un trámite. No tengo nada de que avergonzarme, yo no establezco relaciones de complicidad con nadie”, dijo.
